Douglas M. Greene, Esq. — A compassionate attorney on your side
Douglas M. Greene, Esq has a decade of experience as a disability law attorney. Doug entered private practice full time after he left the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.
While with the Social Security Administration, he served as a Supervisory Attorney Advisor in both the Newark and South Jersey Hearing Offices. In July of 2011, he was promoted to senior attorney advisor for the Jersey City hearing office. He helped launch the office located temporarily at Federal Plaza in New York City by mentoring several new attorneys. Doug has given many trainings as a senior attorney in Jersey City, and has led many discussion groups on disability topics.
Doug has participated in both the New York regional and national virtual screening units. While on the regional and virtual screening units, he issued many fully favorable on the record decisions under his own adjudicatory authority. Doug knows what it takes to get a claimant approved without a hearing.
As a senior attorney, Doug screened cases for on the record decisions, and made decisions on critical case requests. Doug is familiar with the Social Security Administration’s rules for expediting hearings.
Since 2010, Doug has litigated parental right termination appeals, along with child abuse and neglect cases in the Appellate Division. He serves as a pool attorney for the Office of Parental Representation for the Office of the Public Defender. Doug has argued and won many cases in the Appellate Division.
Before joining SSA, Doug was a staff attorney for many years with Legal Services of New Jersey’s SSI project, representing claimants before Administrative Law Judges, the Appeals Council, and Federal Court. During his time there, he was one of the most successful attorneys on the project.
Doug also did a judicial clerkship with Retired Judge James Mulvihill in the Criminal Division of the New Jersey’s Middlesex County Court. During his time with Judge Mulvihill, he advised on municipal court appeals along with criminal trial motions.
In May of 2005, Doug graduated from Rutgers Newark School of Law, where he was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship recipient and teaching assistant.
Doug received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers College in May 2000, with high honors in history and political science. While at Rutgers, he was an undergraduate fellow in the Eagleton Institute of Politics.
